Green Girl says 'Goodbye'
Takes break to clear brain and give birth

While this is a farewell column, it’s not forever. I’m sorry to be the bearer of such sad news, but the rumors you’ve heard are all true. . .The Green Girl is going on a temporary sabbatical of sorts.

Not only do I feel like my brain could use a break from coming up with creative column topics week after week since July 2000, I also am expecting my firstborn little "Deere" to arrive any day now!

So it seems logical that I start slowing down some work-wise when I can. And my weekly contribution to the Field Reporter as the Monday columnist is a smart place to start.

That makes this the final column for a while. I can’t say exactly how long I’ll stay away. It may be until the New Year 2003 but I might miss it too much before then and start back up sooner.

In the meantime, I encourage you to reread the extensive archives of two-plus years worth of past columns here at the Field Reporter website, which will stay active for a while yet. Eventually, you’ll be able to find all Green Girl columns archived on the Bleeding Green website.

And if I’m feeling overly ambitious, I’ll also start up the "Eye on Ebay" weekly column I’ve been talking about for years now. So stay tuned to The Green Girl through the Bleeding Green website. And feel free to email every so often just to ask what’s new or to tell me about something interesting you found. I’m always able to listen and respond to requests, although it probably won’t be as promptly as it was in the past!

By the way, you can still find my world-famous and ever-popular JOHN DEERE COLLECTIBLES book at local and on-line bookstores, including at the John Deere Store in Moline. If you want an autographed special edition collector’s copy, there are still a few first edition ones left. They’d make a great green gift for your favorite Deere fan come Christmas. To reserve your copy of this highly valued book of memorabilia, contact me by email or place an order through the Bleeding Green website.

Keep bleeding green!
